Countdown to Sonisphere Festival in Sofia 2010

If you are are a fan of metal music – thrash metal in particular – then you should relish the arrival of the Big Four in Sofia this summer – as well as a few other bands.

Some of the biggest names in metal – Metallica, Slayer, Manowar, Alice In Chains, Megadeth, Mastodon, Anthrax, Rammstein and Stone Sour – have been confirmed to play in the Sofia Rocks Festival, part of the Sonisphere Festivals series, in Sofia on June 22-23.

The organisers have already confirmed the Bulgarian bands performing in the festival. Bastardolomey will warm up Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, whereas Shre4 will perform on the second day, June 23, to be headlined by Rammstein.

Bastardolomey was formed in 2007 by Dimitar Vassilev. Their first single was Cheap Thrill while their first record in 2009 was entitled Plastic Pig Society.

Skre4 are considerably older, formed in 1998, in the northern Bulgarian town of Pleven, under the name Road Crew. They have released two albums to date, Spe4 and Made in China.

Metallica are headliners on June 22 with Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax all featured as support. This will be the third time Metallica perform in Bulgaria, selling out the full capacity Vassil Levski stadium on their own in the summer of 2009.

Rammstein will headline day two, with Alice in Chains, Mastodon and Stone Sour all in support for June 23.

On both days, concerts will begin at 5pm. One-day events are priced at 59 to 99 leva in the stands, 79 leva for the stadium's pitch and 119 leva in front of the stage.
